My first music video draft

This is my first music video draft for the song Muse - uprising, i chose this due to the ideologies and attitudes about the song, which i think are highly significant to people. I also had a bit of a problem due to me losing some footage due to memory shortage on the SD card i used for the camera, therefore may be a missing section.

The weather when filming was very dismal and dark, creating a sense of pathetic fallecy, connoting the mood of the patients and protagonist showing their emotions towards the institution, clearly stating is depressing and mysterious. However the one tonal colour of the sky connotes how hollow it is, despite the tensions and emotions rising whilst being confined under powerful figures.

The reason I chose the cast and what to wear?
The protagonist, James, he is a normal looking 18 year old male, due to the normality, this makes it thought provoking as consumers will be thinking what is going on with this normal looking young adult. However when the video starts, very little is revealed triggering thoughts and the video goes on an incline creating a shocking factor making it exciting. The clothes i got James to wear was dark leisure wear, a hoody, jogging bottoms and some plain shoes, connoting the dark atmosphere surrounding the place. However the choice of comfortable clothes, connotes an oxymoron effect due to the fact that he has comfortable clothing on but the feels of the place just isn't anywhere in this place.

For the band i chose Oscar, who is 17, Ben who is 18, Alex and Jake who are both 17. I chose these because they are all of musical backgrounds, therefore it would look very natural to when they are performing, enhancing the quality. Jake, Ben and Alex are also in a band together so it looked as if they was doing their thing, which is to play music and it looked like a real performance. Alex and ben both had ripped skinny jeans and denim jackets, stereotypically a costume of an indie/ alternative/ rock band or dress sense of the indie collective identity, therefore conforming to the Perkins' theory. Jake and Oscar both had a colourful jacket and baggy jeans to connote that there is more than one side to a predicament; also it shows the different emotions of the band and the protagonist as they are the story tellers of this situation.

Choreography
For the band it was pretty simple, as musicians they simply had to play their part in the band as I varied shots and angles to make the best quality video I could. However the protagonist (James) went down the route of taking part in a narrative, therefore following the steps that I have chosen to build up to create the narrative. It involved him doing many things, from as basic as laying down on a bed whilst being strapped to it - to then increasing intensity and unleashing his anger that he has bottled up.

As you can see below are messages between me and James (Jimmy) who is the protagonist/ in my music video, who acts as a patient in an institute. The content includes me telling him what to wear, what time we was filming and where we was filming. It made it a lot easier that me and James live close to each other and him being a close friend meant that i could rely on him to be there no time without letting me down, making organisation much easier.

As you can see here this was photos took by my friend, James, who is in my music video, just before filming a scene in my video. In the first image you can see one of the actors, Ben, on the white paper roll, with one of the white lights pointing at the paper, which adds a higher quality and definition. The paper also had a bit of rip in it so i had to pull that out further so that it didn't show in my video. In the second image you can see the LED light, which i used to take away the shadow that was there, because of the white lights. Indicating that it was a better quality, also i wanted the backdrop to look as baron and empty as it could be. I did this to reflect how the patients feel inside the institute, as if there is nowhere to go for them. In the last image you can see me with the camera in my hand with a light pointing at the white backdrop. I was about to turn the lights off and just having the white lights and LED lights on, i found that this makes it look more professional and a higher quality than with the strip lights on as well.
